FSL Primary/Junior Teacher

OMS Montessori, a private non-profit school, located in a beautiful residential area in central Ottawa, is seeking a dedicated and energetic full-time Primary/Junior French  Second Language (FSL) Teacher to begin on August 29^th, 2022.  OMS Montessori is a well-established community of 300+ students and over 60 staff, ranging from Toddler to Grade 12.  Our dedicated staff are strongly committed to working together, guided by Montessori pedagogy.

Work hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 pm., Monday to Friday

The FLS Teacher will work with students, ages 6 – 12 (Grades 1 to 6).

The ideal candidate will:

• exhibit a knowledge of and an interest in the Montessori philosophy,
• create an environment that inspires and supports students in learning a second language,
• ensure lessons are in line and exceed the required provincial curriculum,
• develop lesson plans and course outlines,
• keep accurate and complete records of each student’s progress and communicate with parents/guardians as needed,
• attend professional development opportunities and keep up to date with developments in subject area,
• be a team player and actively participate in school events, parent evenings, Parent-Teacher Conferences, faculty, and department meetings,
• be responsible for supervision of Elementary students before school.

Qualifications:

• Montessori Diploma and/or Primary/Junior Ontario College of Teachers certification,
• experience teaching FSL
• strong oral and written skills in both official languages,
• Additional Qualifications and experience in Special Education an asset,
• knowledge of technology, specifically Office Suites and Google platform an asset.

Bilingual Receptionist

The chosen candidate will possess the following skills:

• Fluent (written and oral) in English and French
• Knowledge and awareness of customer service principles and practices
• Excellent communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills; the ability to multi-task
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Experience with cash handling and processing payments
• Knowledge of computer systems and applications, such as Microsoft Office Suites
• Knowledge of common office equipment, such as printers, photocopiers, fax machines, etc.
• Calendar scheduling

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Greeting visitors, clients, students and staff
• Answering and directing telephone calls
• Sorting and posting mail; arranging for courier service
• Troubleshooting photocopiers, printers, etc.
• Maintaining an inventory of school supplies
• Filling requisition orders, on a weekly basis
• Shopping / ordering supplies
• Photocopying and filing, as needed
• Processing credit card / Interac / cash payments
• Taking attendance and following up with families
• Creating / updating attendance lists
• Preparing admissions packages
• Photocopying and collating communications to go out to families

Bilingual Early Childhood Educator

OMS Montessori is seeking dedicated and energetic bilingual Registered Early Childhood Educators (member of College of Early Childhood Educators) to work in communities of children ranging from 18 months to 5 years, beginning in August 2021. We are a leading non-profit Montessori school, with an enrollment of over 300 students from Toddler through High School.

The Montessori environment is well-equipped with core Montessori materials and has a Montessori Lead Teacher and three Assistants. Well-qualified candidates must be registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators, have experience working with children, display a strong commitment to team work, a knowledge and interest in the Montessori method and possess a strong sense of professionalism.

Applicants have a deep respect for children, a positive attitude and kind heart, flexibility, and a good sense of humor. Montessori training is not necessary, though familiarity with the Montessori philosophy and a strong desire to support the Director / ress in its implementation is imperative.
